Who We Are

The Women’s Initiatives for Gender Justice is an international women’s human rights organisation that advocates for gender justice through the International Criminal Court (ICC) and through domestic mechanisms, including peace negotiations and justice processes.

Target areas

Advocating for accountability for and prosecution of SGBC and gender justice before the ICC and other mechanisms. Supporting survivors and building a gender justice field.

More inclusive gender justice

In international and domestic laws, policies, practices, adjudications and jurisprudence.

Increased access to justice

For survivors of sexual and gender-based crimes.

Improved policies and practices

For assistance and security for survivors of sexual and gender-based violence.

Greater participation of women

In conflict resolution, recovery processes and transitional justice mechanisms.

Where Are We

Women’s Initiatives for Gender Justice is based in The Hague, The Netherlands. 

We also have in-country partners in strategic locations in support of our country-based programmes. Women’s Initiatives’ work also includes legal monitoring programme for all ICC situation countries and cases including sexual and gender-based crimes.
